Brainglass mobile learning apps close 16.85MSEK first round funding (2.5 MUSD/1.9 MEUR)

Swedish mobile app developer Brainglass is teaming up with two international angel investors from the mobile industry: Lead investor Marc Beuls; emerging market specialist and former CEO of Millicom International Cellular, Markus Berger-De León, CEO of MyHammer AG (and formerly CEO of Jamba/Jamster and StudyVZ), ALMI Invest Stockholm AB and Sting Capital AB are among the investors.

Brainglass represents fun, interesting and motivational learning experiences supported by intelligent, efficient and effective learning processes. All made available cross-platform, including mobile devices and social media, integrated seamlessly into relevant everyday activities and tools.

The first of four apps to launch this year, all leveraging on in-app and cross-application sales is the karaoke4english AUDIOBOOK READER available in App stores in early April. This is an innovative way of learning languages by mashing up well-known concepts in language education. The result is a karaoke-style audiobook reader where the user listens to the audio while the visual text is marked up in the same pace as the reading. The user can pause and look-up unknown words in an integrated dictionary, and automatically generate exercises to learn later using the Brainglass intelligent learning and repetition algorithm. The app comes in two entry-level versions based on some of the world’s greatest books:
